Five 88, developed by Related California in partnership with Chinatown Community Development Center is San Francisco’s largest affordable housing development in decades. The development is a mixed-use, transit-oriented, affordable housing development. Five 88 offers 1 and 2 bedroom apartment homes, with on-site amenities including a spacious clubhouse with fitness center, a 200 space bicycle storage area, laundry facilities, and a lounge.
Argus developed the identity for the property using the word “five,” rather than the number to make the address unique. Taking cues from the architecture, we designed the identity to be clean and modern.
Additionally, we designed the entry identity sign as a relief in the exterior concrete to fully integrate with the architecture. Interior signs reflect the circular patterns of the 8’s in the identity.
