About the Project:
BRIDGE Housing’s Montara, located in the Bay Meadows development in San Mateo, California, consists of 68 affordable units, 34 of which are Project-Based Section 8 subsidy, referred from the Housing Authority of the County of San Mateo and 16 units referred from the Veterans Affairs and the Continuum of Care.
Argus created the Montara name, appropriately inspired by the nearby mountain that provides the area with protection from wind and weather, and developed branding to capture the essence of the location and property to create a strong connection with residents and visitors. Our work continued with the design of a logo and signage program.
Interior signage visually ties to the building’s architecture and is designed to be light and airy. Unit signage intentionally includes useful details including note clips and doorbells to maintain a clean and modern aesthetic through corridors and common areas.
Argus commissioned a large art piece for the entry lobby, chosen to enhance the warm, contemporary feel of the building and support a strong sense of place.
